TEHRAN, Iran – USA Wrestling and Titan Mercury WC has been informed that the Freestyle World Clubs Cup semifinal match between Pool A champion Titan Mercury and Pool B champion Khimori of Mongolia will be held at 10:00 a.m. local time on Friday morning.

Defending World Clubs Cup champion Titan Mercury powered through its pool, dominating Montreal (CAN), 9-1, the India Club (IND), 8-2 and NSA Akademik (BUL), 10-0.

Khimori defeated Budapest SC (HUN), 6-4 and Tajikistan Club (TAJ) to capture Pool B.

Khimori features a young team, with few major Senior-level achievements. Included on the team are a pair of placers at the 2017 U23 World Championships, Ganbaatar Gankhuyag (76 kg) and Munkhtur Lkhagvegerel (125 kg), plus a 2016 Junior World place winner, Tseveensuren Tsogbakrakh (57 kg).

The Titan Mercury WC is loaded, with four past World medalists and many of the top stars in American freestyle today. The team features 2016 Olympic champion and two-time World champion Kyle Snyder (97 kg), 2017 World silver medalist Thomas Gilman (57 kg) and 2017 World bronze medalist Nick Gwiazdowski (125), plus Franklin Gomez of Puerto Rico, a 2011 World silver medalist.

Eight Titan Mercury wrestlers were unbeaten in pool competition, Thomas Gilman (57 kg), B.J. Futrell (65 kg), Nazar Kulchytskyy (74 kg), Kyle Dake (79 kg), David Taylor (86 kg), Nick Heflin (92 kg), Kyle Snyder (97 kg) and Nick Gwiazdowski (125 kg).

The other semifinal will feature a pair of Iranian clubs, Pool C winner Setaragan Sari and Pool D winner Easy Pipe Kasham.

Setaragan Sari upset 2014 and 2015 World Clubs Cup champion Bimeh Razi of Iran, 6-4 in their pool match. Bimeh Razi had three stars from Russia on their team, two of which who lost.

At 92 kg, Olympic and World champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev of Russia, competing for Bimeh Razi, scored a technical fall win over Abazar Edami of Setaragan Sari. However, past World champion Khetig Tsabolov of Russia lost at 74 kg to Magomed Rasul Gadzimagomedov of Setaragan Sari (also a Russian), 8-4. At 79 kg, Omid Hasantabar of Setaragan Sari defeated Olympic silver medalist Aniur Geduev of Russia, 10-7.

We list the Titan Mercury dual meet results below, and will update the story later with results from the other dual meets that did not include Titan Mercury.
