USA Wrestling has named seven athletes as wildcards in men’s freestyle for the U.S. World Team Trials in Madison, Wis., June 13-14.

These athletes were selected from a group of Senior wrestlers who participated in an application process, which included a set of specific criteria for inclusion. The wildcards were named by a selection committee.

Included on the list are two past U.S. Senior World Team members.

Angel Escobedo (Ames, Iowa/New York AC), who was fifth in the 2013 World Championships, received the wildcard at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. Escobedo, a past U.S. Open runner-up, was third at the 2015 Dave Schultz Memorial International in January.

Jimmy Kennedy (Ann Arbor, Mich./New York AC/Cliff Keen WC), a 2014 U.S. World Team member, is the wildcard at 65 kg/143 lbs. Kennedy moved up in weight this year, and placed third in the respected Yasar Dogu International in Turkey at 66 kg in March.
