Three more U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers have weighed in and received draws at the 2014 World Wrestling Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

On his second straight U.S. World Team is Robby Smith (Colorado Springs, Colo. (New York AC) at 130 kg/286.5 lbs. Smith was fifth in the 2013 World Championships.

Smith will open against Jon Won Hwang of Korea, who was eighth in the 2013 Asian Championships.

“Robby has trained very well. He has overcome some obstacles lately, but is doing very well and is a disciplined guy. One of the keys for him is that he keeps his spirits high. He is energetic and is joyful to be around. He is also very fast and has to use that quality to be successful,” said U.S. coach Ahad Javansalehi.

Also competing are a pair of first-time World Team members Bryce Saddoris (Camp Lejeune, N.C./U.S. Marines) at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. and Joe Rau (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 80 kg/176 lbs.

Saddoris, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, will compete against Loiqi Amirkhanzode of Tajikistan.

“He has a big heart. I doesn’t matter where, practice, running, live matches. He will give you 110%. That is his character. I know that no matter who he is wrestling, he will give everything he has. I am very excited to see how he performs,” said Javansalehi.

Rau, who was a Div. III national champion for Elmhurst, drew Jonas Bossert of Switzerland, who was fifth in the 2010 Junior World Championships.

“He is a young guy who has never wrestled this caliber of competition. He is very brave and full of energy. He will give all that he has. He has a great future in Greco-Roman, which should go on for many years to come. He relies on pummeling and a great bodylock. The sky is the limit for him,” said Javansalehi.
