UM Morris Women defeat Cumberland College in Dual then Claim Rollie Hoover Mort Geller Open title

UM-Morris women defeat Cumberland College in dual, then claim Rollie Hoover/Mort Geller Women's Invitational title with three champions, Oct. 13 UM-Morris defeated Cumberland College in a dual meet, 21-17, then claimed the team title at the 2001 Rollie Hoover/Mort Geller Women's Invitational in Meadville, Pa., Oct. 12-13. The teams split the eight matches in the dual meet, but UM-Morris came out ahead based on points. There were two extra matches held at 46 kg included in the dual. 2001 World Team member Toccara Montgomery (Cleveland, Ohio/Sunkist Kids) decisioned Katie Downing (Pendleton, Ind./UM-Morris), 7-6 in the dual meet, then scored another decision over Downing, 6-2, to win the Invitational at 149.75 pounds. UM-Morris won the Invitational team title with three champions: Katrina Betts at 101.25 pounds, Patrice Crenshaw at 112.25 pounds and Samantha Branka at 165.25 pounds. Other individual champions were Brandy Rosenbrock of Shamrock at 123.25 pounds, Jimi-Dawn Hornbuckle of Pennsylvania at 136.5 pounds and Montgomery.
