Sage Mortimer (Springville, Utah/King University) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Dec. 16, 2021.

Freshman Mortimer continued her undefeated collegiate streak, winning the 116-pound title at the North Central Open in Naperville, Ill. Ranked No. 4 in the nation, Mortimer went 3-0 at the event, including two wins by technical fall.

In the semifinals, she routed No. 6 Aliyah Rollins of McKendree, 17-5, to earn a spot in the finals. For the title, Mortimer dominated No. 5 Kendra Ryan of North Central, 12-2.

Mortimer is a past USA Wrestling age-group World Team member, representing the U.S. at the 2019 Cadet World Championships.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level.

To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Manager of Communications and Social Media Taylor Miller at tmiller@usawrestling.org.
