Jordan Burroughs (Lincoln, Neb./Sunkist Kids) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on March 10, 2020.

Burroughs, a 2012 Olympic champion and four-time World champion, won his fourth Pan American Championships title over the weekend in Ottawa, Canada.

En route to a gold at 74 kg, Burroughs opened his tournament with a 10-0 technical fall against Jorge Llano of Argentina. He followed it up with a tough 3-0 shutout against three-time World bronze medalist and 2007 World silver medalist Jeandry Garzon Caballero of Cuba,

In the finals, the American met a familiar foe in 2011 World silver medalist Franklin Gomez from Puerto Rico. They went head-to-head twice last year with Burroughs winning both but by narrow margins. This time, Burroughs scored multiple times, including a takedown to leg lace combo, for an 8-1 victory.

Overall, it marks Burroughs’ seventh Pan Am gold as he also owns three Pan Am Games titles.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level. Twitter fan votes also play a part in decision.

To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Manager of Communications Taylor Miller at tmiller@usawrestling.org.
