Trent Hidlay (Lewistown, Pa./North Carolina State University) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Nov. 26, 2019.

Last weekend, Hidlay, a freshman for North Carolina State, knocked off the country’s Nos. 2 and 3 wrestlers at 184 pounds on the same day.

To begin the day, Hidlay downed No. 3 Ben Darmstadt of Cornell, 7-5, thanks to a late takedown. To wrap up a successful Saturday, the Wolfpack wrestler defeated No. 2 Lou DePrez of Binghamton with a 2-1 tiebreaker win.

NC State went on to win both duals handily, winning25-9 over Cornell and 28-9 over Binghamton.

Hidlay began his first varsity collegiate season in November shortly after winning a Junior World bronze medal in his World Championships debut.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level. Twitter fan votes also play a part in decision.

To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Communications Coordinator Taylor Miller at tmiller@usawrestling.org.
