Sarah Hildebrandt (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) has been selected as Athlete of the Week on Sept. 4, 2018.

According to the women’s freestyle National Team coaches, Hildebrandt had a great National Team camp a few weeks ago in Fresno, Calif., and since then has continued show immense effort and dedication in the weeks leading up to the 2018 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Hildebrandt has put together a solid season so far, winning a spot on the 2018 World Team after dominating performances at the U.S. Open and Final X.

So far internationally, Hildebrandt won gold and was named Outstanding Wrestler at the Pan American Championships in Lima, Peru, in May and most recently claimed the top prize at the Grand Prize of Spain in Madrid in July.

This weekend, Hildebrandt and six other members of the 2018 Women’s Freestyle World Team travel to Warsaw, Poland, to compete at the Poland Open.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level. Twitter fan votes also play a part in decision.

To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Communications Coordinator Taylor Miller at
