Gable Steveson (Apple Valley, Minn./University of Minnesota) has been selected as Athlete of the Week on Dec. 4, 2018.

Steveson improved to 13-0 in his true freshman season, dominating the 285-pound weight class at the prestigious Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite last weekend in Vegas.

Bringing home the only individual title for the Golden Gophers, Steveson picked up five wins over the two-day tournament, four of which came with bonus points attached.

Steveson opened the tournament with a fall in 4:25 over Luke Ready of Michigan before tallying an 18-3 technical fall against Virginia Tech’s John Borst.

In the quarterfinals, the Minnesota native shut down eighth-seeded AJ Nevills of Fresno State to move onto the semis. There, Steveson took out No. 4 Cory Daniel of North Carolina in his closest match of the weekend, 9-3.

For his first CKLV title, Steveson scored four takedowns and a pair of nearfall points for a 12-4 major decision over No. 6 Tate Orndorff of Utah Valley.

A true freshman, Steveson is 13-0 on the year with seven bonus-point wins and five wins over ranked opponents.

Steveson is a two-time Cadet World champion, 2017 Junior World champion and 2018 Junior World Team member.
