What motivated you to try out the sport? 

I wanted to make an olympic team :)

What is your most memorable weightlifting moment?

The most inspiring weightlifting moment I’ve ever seen was when Sarah robles got her bronze medal at the Olympic Games in 2016. She overcame so much controversy and hate from other people and she focused on herself and didn't let anything or anyone get in the way of her goal. She made every single lift under the most pressure a lifter could be under. It shifted the potential of American lifters for me. She proved that we can compete with these other countries and it made me realize I shouldn’t put a limit on my goals.

Do you have any pre-competition rituals?

Not really. I used to have some but now I just go with the flow. I pray that I glorify God on that stage and give my performance to Him. You can’t control any situation you're dealt in sports so I’ve found to be prepared for anything it's best to not plan anything.

What's your favorite post-competition meal?

Every single thing I can get my hands on. I usually always am craving something different before each competition. Sometimes I crave candy, sometimes an actual meal, sometimes something super random like PopTarts. I usually pack it and bring it with me when I travel so I can see what I’m earning for a few days.

Are there any weightlifters that you look up to?  I really like watching Rostami from Iran compete. He's so confident and fierce. He knows what he wants, he’s not afraid to take it. 

What is one thing that weightlifting has taught you?

Weightlifting has taught me how far I can push my body. It’s taught me how to fight my mind and to overcome doubt.

Outside of weightlifting, how do you like to spend your time? 

Pretty much my life revolves around lifting. Every decision I make, I have my goals in mind – when I eat, sleep, etc. One thing I give myself guilty pleasure with watching TV or movies at night. Yes, 'm usually stretching or doing some recovery during that time, but sometimes I just like to sit on my butt and check out. 

What is one thing about you that surprises people?

It might surprise people that I like rap music.
