2021 USA Weightlifting Womens Camp set for February

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (January 6, 2020) -- USA Weightlifting will bring together a limited number of women at the Rogue Fitness gym in Columbus, Ohio from February 10-15th. We are excited to offer this popular annual camp at a safe, physically distanced venue. The USA Weightlifting Women’s camp is an opportunity for female weightlifters to improve their lifting and coaching skills and forge lasting relationships within the growing community of women who lift in the United States.


Participation is limited to 10 and each lifter will be assigned their own platform and equipment. USA Weightlifting will not provide transportation due to Covid. Meals and housing will be provided. The event hotel is less than 4 miles away from the Rogue Steelwood location where athletes will train.


The USA Weightlifting Women’s Camp gives female lifters access to the top female coaches in the sport, with the opportunity to learn from female training partners and mentors. This year’s coaches include Cheryl Haworth, Ursula Garza Papandrea and Aimee Anaya Everett (*tentative). Haworth is a 3-time Olympian, Olympic Bronze Medalist and Youth World Record holder. Garza Papandrea is a Senior International coach and Anaya Everett is an International coach. Participants can expect to train twice daily with a focus on fundamentals. 


“This is something that women athletes crave, to have women influence and strong female role models in their lives,” Everett said at the camp in August of 2019.


USA Weightlifting hopes camps like these will continue to create female coaches and invite women into political and technical positions within the sport.


The cost of the camp is $2,500 and includes lodging and meals . It does not include transportation. Registration is limited to 10 to ensure a safe physically distanced experience.
