USA Weightlifting to hold virtual training camp

March 31, 2020, 3:09 p.m. (ET)

USA Weightlifting will give athletes currently ranked for youth and junior international teams the opportunity to take advantage of resources normally reserved for in-person training camps via a webinar camp on April 10th.

In an effort to support athlete’s changing needs during the Coronavirus pandemic, USA Weightlifting has invited expert support staff to take part in the virtual camp. The team’s registered dietitian and sport psychologist will give presentations to athletes to ensure they’re able to maintain healthy bodies and spirits while training through unprecedentedly uncertain times.

Following the presentations, each athlete will have the opportunity to train virtually with USA Weightlifting’s Director of Sport Performance and Coaching Education, Mike Gattone and Technical Director, Pyrros Dimas.

Youth and Junior international competitions that remain on the calendar in 2020, subject to the possibility of postponement are the Youth Pan American Championships, to be held in Winston-Salem North Carolina in late June, the Junior Pan American Championships scheduled for mid September in Manizales, Colombia and the Youth World Championships in November in Lima, Peru.
