Stars and Stripes Lift Off July Online Qualifier

June 23, 2020, 11:46 a.m. (ET)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (June 23, 2020) -- With access to gyms and competitions still limited for many USA Weightlifting members, we are launching another online qualification event for July.

The Stars and Stripes Lift Off opens July 1 and runs through July 31. Members can see the event rules and submit their weigh-in, snatch, and clean and jerk lifts at http://www.usaweightlifting.events after the event launch on July 1.

Themed around the nation’s birthday, the logo of the Stars and Stripes Lift Off reflects Team USA’s success at the Olympic Games in the 21st century. The three stars in the field represent the three Olympic medals won by Americans, Tara Nott’s (48kg) Gold at the Olympic Games Sydney 2000, Cheryl Haworth’s (+75kg) bronze at the same Olympic Games Sydney 2000 and Sarah Robles (+75kg) bronze at the Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016. The fifteen stripes represent the 15 individuals who represented Team USA in Weightlifting at the Olympic Games since 2000.
