The 2020 Pan American Youth Championships will occur 23 to 28 June in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA at the Benton Convention Center.
Located at the same venue as the USA Weightlifting National Youth Championship and American Open Series 2, the event adds to an exciting week of Weightlifting just a few weeks before the Olympic Games begin.
The event is the premiere continental event for athletes aged 13 to 17, and was last held in Guayaquil, Ecuador in September 2019 where Team USA enjoyed an outstanding performance.
The event also serves to prepare Pan American teams for participation in November's 2020 IWF Youth World Championships in the experienced host city of Lima, Peru.
"We are happy to be offer the next generation of athletes in the Americas a chance to shine in this Olympic year. We look forward to welcoming friends from around the region to North Carolina." Phil Andrews, USA Weightlifting CEO said.
For US athletes, the final qualification event will be the American Open Series 1, in accordance with selection calendar policy. A full calendar and current ranking list will be produced shortly.
