Jan. 31, 2019, 2:01 p.m. (ET)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (January 31, 2019) – USA Weightlifting will once again be hosting an online talent search for high school students during the month of March. The High School Throwdown will name America’s strongest high school and individual athlete based on video submissions.

High school students between the ages of 13 and 18 can upload videos of their best bench press, squat and power or full clean at www.highschoolthrowdown.com. USA Weightlifting will use the submissions to identify new weightlifting talent. The top athlete per weight category will win a trophy and be invited to a USA Weightlifting camp at the Rogue Headquarters in Columbus, OH and have the opportunity to train the Olympic lifts with our high-performance coaching staff.

“We can’t wait to see this year’s video submissions,” said Suzy Sanchez, USA Weightlifting’s Director of Grassroots Development. “We know there is weightlifting talent waiting to be discovered in high school weight rooms across the country.”

The overall winner’s high school will win a barbell and banner, while the runner ups will receive banners to hang in their gyms. The competition runs March 1-31, 2019 and is free to enter. For more information, please contact suzy.sanchez@usaweightlifting.org
