USA Weightlifting is excited to announce its 2020-2024 Direct Athlete Support & Athlete/Coach Funding Program for senior, junior, and youth athletes and their personal coaches.

The USA Weightlifting Direct Athlete Support program will deliver over $480,000 plus bonus payments annually to both elite and developing athletes, with the new program going into effect on June 1, 2020.

Athletes have the opportunity to earn monthly payments based upon their performance in national and international competitions. Payments are made on a monthly basis to athletes, up to a maximum payment of $3500 per month.

There are opportunities to earn additional individual bonus funding based on international medal-winning performances, where bonuses are also available to personal coaches.

USA Weightlifting as part of its funding program has also extended further funding to Youth and Junior events over the offering in 2018-2020, and additionally makes funding available to athletes for recovery, sports nutrition, sports psychology and other performance enhancing projects.

“USA Weightlifting is proud to dedicate a high level of our revenue to directly supporting the training and competition activities of our elite athletes, and to fully rewarding our athletes for point production on the international platform. Continuing to support those individuals who make our sport is essential to the mission of USA Weightlifting. We believe our program has a leading amount of financial support for our elite athletes compared to both other US sporting organizations and other Weightlifting National Federations,” said
Phil Andrews, CEO of USA Weightlifting.
