USA Weightlifting to Host Inaugural Women's Camp

USA Weightlifting will host its inaugural Weightlifting Camp for Women August 8-13, 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada and athletes from the United States and around the world are invited to attend this first-of-its-kind camp.

Coaching participants will be Ursula Garza Papandrea, Aimiee Anaya Everett and Erin Wallace Andica.

Participants will stay at the Excalibur Las Vegas Hotel & Casino while training will be held at Average Broz's Gym. Transportation between the hotel and training will be provided.

The cost to attend the camp is $1695 for double occupancy, $1995 for single. The fee includes five nights lodging, all meals and transportation between the airport, hotel and training site. It also includes six training sessions with equipment provided by Rogue Fitness, presentations, access to the Excalibur's spa, sauna and steam room and the closing banquet.

Those local to the Las Vegas area can participate in a training only option for $795. This fee does not include transportation, lodging, meals or access to the Excalibur's spa, sauna and steam room.

"We are so excited to welcome some of America's strongest women to Las Vegas," USA Weightlifting Director of Development Programs Suzy Sanchez said. "This will be an amazing opportunity to empower women in our sport as well as offer our members a unique experience to get to train alongside pioneers of our sport."

Coach profiles:
Ursula Garza Papandrea, President of USA Weightlifting, Vice President of the International Weightlifting Federation and chair of the IWF Women's Commission. A world-level athlete herself, Papandrea was the first woman to achieve the ranking of Senior International Coach, USA Weightlifting's highest coaching certification.

After a standout career on the platform including time at the Olympic Training Center, Aimee Anaya Everett retired as an athlete to coach at Catalyst Athletics. In her time as a coach, Anaya Everett has become one of only 3 International Coaches in USA Weightlifting. She most recently coaching Jessica Lucero to American Records and appearances at the IWF World Championships.

Erin Wallace Andica came into the sport of Olympic Weightlifting during her sophomore year at Louisiana State University-Shreveport. She has won two National Championships and has competed for Team USA in the Pan American Championships, World Championships, and Summer Universiade. She currently serves on the Athlete Advisory Council and Women's Collegiate Development Committee for USAW. Currently, Erin runs her own small business, English Academy Armenia, in Armenia, Colombia where she lives with her husband, Carlos Andica.
