COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (July 5, 2018) – USA Weightlifting announced today that the 2019 International Weightlifting Federation Youth World Championships and 2019 Nike USA Weightlifting National University & Under 25 Championships powered by Rogue Fitness will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada next March.

The Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino will serve as the competition venue and training hall for both events. The Westgate Resort will play host to the 2018 Nike USA Weightlifting American Open Series 3 powered by Rogue Fitness this September.

Lifting for the 2019 National University & Under 25 Championships is scheduled for March 8-10, with meetings on Thursday, March 7. Competition for the IWF Youth World Championships is also slated to begin Friday, March 8 with lifting continuing until Friday, March 15.

“With so much room at the Westgate, it was a natural fit to run both the IWF Youth World Championships and the National University & Under 25 Championships at the same time,” Pedro Meloni. USA Weightlifting Senior Manager of Events and Sponsorships said. “We’ll have the domestic event in one hall, with the Youth World Championships in a neighboring hall. Las Vegas will be the place to be next March if you love Weightlifting.

The IWF Executive Board today approved a measure to move Youth World Championships, originally allocated to Anaheim, California. With added weight categories, and an expected higher turnout, the Organizing Committee is taking advantage of Las Vegas’ massive hotel room supply at rates that are comfortable for IWF Member Federations worldwide.

Further details about the events will be released when available.
