USA Weightlifting has formed working groups to determine new American Record standards and competitive weight categories for youth athletes 13 and under and age 14-15 group. Youth athletes aged 16-17 will use the new weight categories as listed above. This process should be concluded by the end of summer.

A reminder that the American Open Series 2 will use the existing bodyweight categories, while local meets sanctioned on or after July 9 will use the new bodyweight categories. Local meets already sanctioned have the option to use either body weight category set, but we recommend using the new categories as soon as possible.

The American Open Series 3 will feature the new bodyweight categories, updated qualifying totals are available here
