Anti Doping Education Required for Registration to USAW National Events

Jan. 08, 2018, 4 p.m. (ET)

Following a successful trial at the 2017 USA Weightlifting American Open Finals, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) Athlete Advantage tutorial and USADA Coaches Advantage tutorial will be required in order to register for USA Weightlifting nationally-run events effective immediately.

The USADA online education modules provide information on the rights and responsibilities of both athletes and coaches respectively in the area of doping control.

Athletes and Coaches will only need to complete the training only once per calendar year, regardless of how many competitions a member wants to enter in a calendar year.

Coaches who wish to register must hold a USA Weightlifting background check and to complete the U.S. Center for SafeSport Education modules in order to register.

USA Weightlifting recognizes this will put additional time constraints on our membership, however, USA Weightlifting asks members to be patient with this new process and continued fight against doping. Each training session will take approximately 15-30 minutes.

To complete the USADA or SafeSport education modules, you can proactively do so by following:

-Log into WebPoint, USA Weightlifting's Membership system.
-Once logged in, click Anti-Doping on the left side of the screen.
-Then click on "USADA Athlete Tutorial" or "USADA Coach Tutorial" (note, Athlete-Coaches must take both the Athlete and Coach tutorials).
-Follow the prompts on the screen to watch the tutorial(s) and take the exam(s).

Once you have successfully completed the exam(s), you will be allowed to register for a USA Weightlifting National Event.

Please note: you MUST take the exam and receive the USADA certification through WebPoint to be able to register for a USA Weightlifting National Event.
