Tokyo 2020 Test Event

USA Weightlifting has the opportunity to send athletes to the 2019 Japan-China-Korea Cup and Tokyo 2020 Test Event July 6-7, 2019.


The event serves as a Silver qualification event for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.


The Organizing Committee has invited American athletes in the following weight categories only:

Women: 87kg, +87kg

Men: 109kg, +109kg


Due to entry limits, the Organizing Committee can, at their exclusive direction, decide to accept or reject an entry.


Additionally, USA Weightlifting is accepting applications for Olympic-eligible athletes to train in Tokyo during the time of the Tokyo 2020 Test Event/Japan-China-Korea Cup competition. Athletes selected for training will use the training in Tokyo to familiarize themselves with the Olympic venue and experience training in Tokyo in the summer. Athletes interested in attending should review the Tokyo 2020 Selection Procedures to determine Olympic eligibility. NOTE: This is a self-funded opportunity (unless funded as a Medal, Gold or Silver athlete in accordance with the USA Weightlifting Athlete Support Funding). Meaning, interested athletes will be responsible for ALL costs incurred including, but not limited to, airfare, hotel accommodations, entry fees, etc.


The deadline to apply is now 12PM Mountain time on Friday, February 1, 2018.



$250 Registration Fee
Approximately $200 per person per day accommodation fee.
