Tokyo 2020 Silver Qualifier in China

12/18 UPDATE: The Organizing Committee has informed us that now all 20 bodyweight categories will be contested. This is a change from the original announcement that the competition would only consist of Olympic Games bodyweight categories. IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THE SHORT DEADLINE FOR THIS COMPETITION DUE TO THE NEED TO REGISTER ATHLETES FOR ADAMS WHEREABOUTS.

USA Weightlifting has the opportunity to send athletes to the 2019 IWF World Cup in Fuzhou, China February 22-27, 2019.

The event serves as a Silver qualification event for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The deadline to apply is now 12PM Mountain time on Thursday, December 20. Unfortunately, since we have just received confirmation of the bodyweight categories that will be contested, it, together with information on the competition deadlines, the qualifying period has already passed and will consist of the American Open Finals less 6 months counting National and International (IWF sanctioned) events.

NOTE: This is a self-funded opportunity (unless funded as a Medal, Gold or Silver athlete in accordance with the USA Weightlifting Athlete Support Funding). Meaning, interested athletes will be responsible for ALL costs incurred including, but not limited to, airfare, hotel accommodations, entry fees, etc. 

Bodyweight categories to be contested:
Men: 55kg, 61kg, 67kg, 73kg, 81kg, 89kg, 96kg, 102kg, 109kg, +109kg 
Women: 45kg, 49kg, 55kg, 59kg, 64kg, 71kg, 76kg, 81kg, 87kg, +87kg
Bodyweight categories in red denote added non-Olympic categories added to the competition by the Organizing Committee on December 18

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
The organizing committee are yet to confirm exact costs, but we estimate the costs as the following:
$220 Registration Fee (inclusive of Anti-Doping Fee)
$140 Visa Fee
$140 per person per day accommodation fee.

ELIGIBILITY
Athletes born before 2003 (aged 15+ years), who satisfy the other criteria listed under our selection criteria. Please pay specific attention to the requirements around anti-doping requirements and having a current passport.
