2019 Nationals Headed to Graceland

April 09, 2018, 12:43 p.m. (ET)
New American weightlifting royalty will be crowned at the home of the King of Rock and Roll as the 2019 Nike USA Weightlifting National Championships powered by Rogue Fitness lands at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee May 9-12.

The iconic estate of Elvis Presley, Graceland, will serve as host of the 2019 National Championships. The competition will be held at Graceland Soundstage with training hall and accommodation held at the adjacent Guest House at Graceland. The Guest House at Graceland is a 400+ room, 4 diamond-rated hotel with rooms priced at $119 per night for the competition.

As part of Graceland’s services, the hotel will offer a free shuttle from the airport, making it easy for athletes, coaches, officials and spectators to get to and from the venue.

Visiting iconic venues in Tennessee has some history within USA Weightlifting, with the National Junior Nationals taking place at the Chattanooga Choo Choo in 2003, where three-time Olympian Cheryl Haworth set records that still stand today.

Due to the upcoming change in IWF Bodyweight Categories, qualification and registration details will be provided at a later date.

“The location choice for the 2019 National Championships is one that will certainly make for some interesting memories for the very best athletes that USA Weightlifting has to offer," USA Weightlifting CEO Phil Andrews said. "It will also be historic since it will be the first time we will crown National Champions in the new bodyweight categories.”
