“We are very proud of these athletes, we’re also proud of the athletes we weren’t able to put on the squad,” Williams said. “It’s a good problem to have so many great athletes that could be competitive at this level, but we had to leave at home.”

Per the 2017-2020 Selection Procedures, USA Weightlifting named 12 athletes to the squad from each gender. Eight athletes from each gender will compete in Anaheim. Those selected to lift will be determined closer to the competition.

“We hope to end our 12-year medal drought at the World Championships this year,” USA Weightlifting CEO Phil Andrews said. “The squad that’s been assembled has a very good chance of doing just that. I, along with the rest of the country, look forward to watching Team USA compete.”

A preliminary schedule is available within the competition's regulations here.
