Newly-elected IWF Executive Board including Vice President Ursula Garza-Papandrea and Pyrros Dimas.

USA Weightlifting picked up three more leadership positions within the International Federation as the 2017 International Weightlifting Federation Electoral Congress wrapped up Tuesday in Bangkok, Thailand.

USAW Technical Director Pyrros Dimas won re-election to the Executive Board with 104 votes of IWF Member Federations-- the most of any candidate. Dimas ran under his home country of Greece.

Dr. Kyle Pierce won re-election to the IWF Coaching and Research Committee. He garnered the most votes with 102.

Dr. Mark Lavallee won a spot on the IWF Medical Committee with 95 votes from IWF Member Federations.

"Congratulations to Pyrros, Mark and Kyle on their elections and their decades of success to earn the trust of voting delegates," USA Weightlifting CEO Phil Andrews said. "As a Federation, we are proud to have such talented individuals among our ranks."

Tuesday's elections follow Monday's vote by IWF Members who selected USAW Board Chair Ursla Garza-Papandrea to the position of IWF Vice President. She's the first woman ever elected to the position. Prior to Garza-Papandrea's election, IWF Member Federations voted to re-elect Dr. Tamas Ajan (Hungary) to a fifth term as President of the IWF.

USAW Technical Committee Chair Joe Triolo stood for election to the IWF Technical Committee. Triolo finished in 8th place, a few votes short of earning a slot on the committee.
