Team USA Shines at Junior Pan American Championships

Team USA had a strong showing in Guayaquil, Ecuador as the team claimed 37 medals at the 2017 Junior Pan American Championships.


With 579 points, Team USA women took home second place overall and led the in medal count with 21. The men scored 471 points and took home third. The men claimed 16 medals in all. 

 

"We're proud of Team USA's performance in Ecuador," USA Weightlifting Associate Executive Director of Sport Lance Williams said. "We're thrilled with the number of medals they won and how they performed on the international stage. They should be very proud of their achievements."


Ryan Sennett (+105kg, Rochester Hills, Michigan, East Coast Gold) won Team USA’s only gold medal of the competition. He won the snatch portion of his competition with a 151kg lift. He took home silver in clean and jerk with a 170kg lift. He won silver in total with 321kg.


Jourdan Delacruz (53kg, Wylie, Texas, Power and Grace Performance) took bronze in snatch with an 81kg lift, silver in clean & jerk with a 102kg lift and silver in total with 183kg. All three are new Junior American Records.


The other Team USA medalists in Ecuador included:


Jordan Wissinger (69kg, Denver, Pennsylvania, Garage Strength) secured a silver in snatch with a 127kg lift, a bronze in clean & jerk with a 150kg lift and a bronze in total with 277kg. 


Mason Groehler (77kg, Denmark, Wisconsin, Mash Mafia Weightlifting) took silver in snatch with a 140kg lift and bronze in clean & jerk with a 160kg lift. He also won silver in total with 300kg. 


Teammate Dale Loch (77kg, Blandon, Pennsylvania, Garage Strength) took bronze in snatch with a 126kg lift. 


Josh Piasecki (85kg, St. Cloud, Florida, Team Florida) won bronze in clean & jerk with a 161kg lift and bronze in total with 291kg. 


Michael Cohen (94kg, Savannah, Georgia,Team Savannah) took bronze in snatch with a 136kg lift. 


Zackary Burks (105kg, Savannah, Missouri, Wesley Weightlifters) won bronze in snatch with a 138kg lift, silver in clean in jerk with a 177kg lift and bronze in total with 315kg.


Hayley Reichardt (48kg, Leesport, Pennsylvania, Garage Strength) swept silver with a 72kg snatch, 90kg clean & jerk and 162kg total.


Taylor Turner (58kg, St. Augustine, Florida, Vero Beach Weightlifting) took silver in snatch with an 84kg lift and silver in total with 185kg.


Meredith Alwine (69kg, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Hi Performance Athletics) won bronze in snatch with an 87kg lift, silver in clean & jerk with a 115kg lift and silver in total with 203kg.


Jessie Bradle (75kg, Provo, Utah, Power and Grace Performance) swept silver with a 90kg snatch, 118kg clean & jerk and 208kg total.


Her teammate, Julianna Riotto (75kg, Fairfield, New Jersey, Garage Strength) swept bronze with a 90kg snatch, 111kg clean & jerk and 201kg total.


In the super heavyweight category, Sha’la McMillan (+90kg, Palmetto, Florida, Full Circle Performance) swept silver with a 102kg snatch, 119kg clean & jerk and 221kg total. 


Her teammate, Kaitlyn Jarrett (+90kg, Palo Cedro, California, unattached) took bronze in snatch with a 90kg lift.
