USA Weightlifting Sport Administrator Jake Strack Loertscher coordinating schedules with former USAW Associate Executive Director Carissa Gump at the 2016 American Open Championships in Orlando, FL.
There’s no one in the USA Weightlifting National Office that wears more hats than Jake Strack Loertscher. One minute he’s securing a forklift for a national event. The next, he’s helping a member with a question about a coaching certification.
“What I love most about working at USA Weightlifting is the passion and drive our athletes have for their sport,” Strack Loertscher said. “I see the passion that everyone involved has for this sport and I wanted to be part of it.”
In Jake’s world, there is no “regular schedule.” Constantly on the move, Jake works side-by-side with USAW’s Senior Events Manager, Pedro Meloni, to help organize and carry out USA Weightlifting’s National Events.
“Life on the road can be tough,” Strack Loertscher admits. “But watching our members succeed during our events makes it all worth it in the end.”
A native of Carbondale, Colorado, Strack Loertscher got his start in the Olympic Movement at USA Taekwondo serving as the organization’s Event Manager. He came into the Movement after securing a Bachelors Degree in Sports Management from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
“I couldn’t be happier at USA Weightlifting,” Strack Loertscher said. “I appreciate the positive atmosphere of not only the staff in the National Office, but my interactions with the members.”
In his free time, Strack Loertscher likes preparing a Colorado delicacy— Rocky Mountain Oysters. He also enjoys experimenting with the ancient Japanese art of Dorodango. You can also see him rooting the Green Bay Packers during the NFL season.
Next time you’re at a USA Weightlifting National Event stop and say hello to Jake. Without him, the events wouldn’t be possible.
