The USA Weightlifting Board of Directors voted unanimously Monday to approve Rogue Fitness equipment for use in competition at all USA Weightlifting national events.
The decision takes effect immediately, pending satisfactory calibration tests of bars, weights and other equipment. If tests are completed in time, Rogue Fitness equipment will be used during competition at the Nike American Open Series 2 powered by Rogue Fitness in Miami July 27-30.
"The organization has developed an outstanding and progressive relationship with Rogue Fitness over the last few months,” USA Weightlifting CEO Phil Andrews said. “The bold step taken to advance them to the most important area of our events speaks about the quality of the provision they make to Olympic Weightlifting.”
Rogue Fitness is currently seeking certification from the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The IWF recently advised USA Weightlifting that USAW is within its jurisdiction to approve Rogue Fitness for competition use for events within the United States.
While Rogue Fitness continues its efforts to secure IWF certification, use of Rogue Fitness equipment will not have any affect on qualifications for IWF events.
Last December, USA Weightlifting and Rogue Fitness entered into a 4-year agreement with Rogue becoming USA Weightlifting's Official Equipment Manufacturer.
