Team USA had a strong showing on the international stage in Miami as the 2017 Pan American Championships came to a close at the Miccosukee Resort.
Team USA men and women each earned 12 medals with the men winning 5 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronze. The women scored 3 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals. Their strong performances scored vital points to earn slots for the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
Led by Colin Burns (94kg, Team Juggernaut) and Caine Wilkes (+105kg, Little League Weightlifting) gold medal performances, Team USA Men finished second overall. Based on the Sinclair formula, Burns finished 10th overall in men while teammate Angelo Bianco (77kg, unattached) finished a USA-best 9th overall.
On the women's side, Sarah Robles (+90kg, Team Houston) continued her dominance on the platform, winning her 3rd consecutive event since taking home bronze at last year's Olympic Games. Robles went 6 for 6 sweeping gold in snatch (120kg), clean & jerk (155kg) and total (275kg.) Robles won the American Open Series I in Reno and the 2017 National Championships in Chicago.
