July 24, 2017, 7:32 p.m. (ET)

Team USA landed on the podium again Monday as Day 2 of the 2017 Senior Pan American Championships ended in Miami, Florida.

Led by Caitlin Hogan (53kg, Waxman's Gym), Team USA scored valuable points to qualify for slots at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

In the 53kg category, Hogan, 29, went a perfect 6-for-6 in her lifts. Her best snatch, 86kg, earned her a bronze medal. Her 107kg clean & jerk secured silver. Hogan took home silver in total with 193kg. It tied the current American Record in total, matching Melanie Roach's record set at the 2008 Olympic Games.

Hogan said her coaching in the back room helped lead her to a successful finish.

"I let them [coach Sean Waxman and USAW Technical Director Pyrros Dimas] call the numbers, let them do what they're supposed to do, I have total faith and trust in them," Hogan said. "I did what I was supposed to do and made the lifts."

Teammate Cortney Batchelor (Team Juggernaut) took home 8th place in the clean & jerk with a 101kg lift.

In the women's 58kg category, Jessica Lucero (Catalyst Athletics) finished 5th in snatch with a 81kg lift. In the clean & jerk, Lucero attempted to set a new American Record with a 117kg lift. She came up short, but her 110kg lift was good enough to take home 5th place. Her 199kg total secured her 5th place overall.

Tuesday's lifting features Team USA's first male competitors of the Pan Ams. Reigning Youth World Champion and Record Holder Harrison Maurus (Alpha Strength & Conditioning) lifts in the 77kg category. Teammate Angelo Bianco (unattached) joins him in the 4:30PM Eastern session. Earlier in the day, Mary Peck (Hassle Free BBC) lifts in the 63kg session at 2PM Eastern. Florida Elite's Mattie Rogers follows at 7PM in the 69kg competition. Rogers looks for a strong finish.
