A delegation from the International Weightlifting Federation traveled to Anaheim, California this week to meet with the Organizing Committee planning this year's IWF World Championships.

Led by Director General Attila Adamfi, the IWF delegation toured the competition venue, the Anaheim Convention Center. The IWF also visited hotels that will serve as home for hundreds of athletes, coaches and technical officials for the competition, scheduled November 28-December 6, 2017.

"We had great meetings with the IWF here in Anaheim," USA Weightlifting CEO Phil Andrews said at the conclusion of the site visit Friday. "We look forward to continue finalizing plans with our great partners at Visit Anaheim and the IWF. We cannot wait to welcome the world back to the United States."

For the first time ever, the United States will host consecutive World Championships. Houston-Harris County Sports Authority served as host the previous World Championships in 2015.

The Organizing Committee shared its creative vision for the event with Adamfi and IWF Director of Communication and Marketing Lilla Rozgonyi during the three days of meetings in Anaheim. During that time the IWF delegation met with the United States Olympic Committee which expressed its support for the World Championships in Anaheim.
