SafeSport Certification Process Changing

Aug. 15, 2017, 3:59 p.m. (ET)
With the launch of the U.S. Center for SafeSport, the process to earn SafeSport certification is changing.

The current process of earning a SafeSport certification online at https://training.teamusa.org (Team USA Prep Center) will be shut down on Monday, September 18, 2017 to allow for user data migration to the new SafeSport platform at https://safesport.org

You will not be able to take the online SafeSport training between Monday, September 18 – Sunday, October 1.

NEW PLATFORM, NEW COURSES
The new SafeSport Platform at https://safesport.org will be launching on Monday, October 2, with 3 new courses.  Each course is approximately 30 minutes and will be replacing the 90-minute SafeSport course. Per the USOC, NGBs must provide an education program for (1) those individuals it formally authorizes, approves or appoints (a) to a position of authority over, or (b) to have frequent contact with athletes; and (2) NGB staff. These individuals of your organization will have to complete all three courses. The training will be valid for 2 years once completing these 3 core courses.

1.  Sexual Misconduct Awareness Education
2.  Reporting Child Sexual Abuse
3.  Emotional and Physical Misconduct

To appear in the Online Coach Directory, along with complying with rules set by the Board of Directors, you must complete SafeSport training. You may continue to use the existing training on the Team USA Prep Center until September 18.

NEW SAFESPORT REFRESHER COURSE COMING IN 2018
A new SafeSport Refresher course will be added to the new platform in 2018. This will be an abbreviated version intended for relevant individuals who completed the 3, core SafeSport courses. This will fulfill their SafeSport requirement for an additional 2 years.
