Sha'la McMillan Snatches Bronze on Final Day of Youth World Championships

Sha'la McMillan closed out competition for Team USA with a bang on Tuesday afternoon at the IWF Youth World Championships. Lifting in the 69+kg category, she went 3 for 3 in the snatch at 94kg, 97kg, and 100kg. She won bronze in the session and set a new youth American record, surpassing the current record of 96kg, which she also held. 

In the clean and jerk, she successfully made her first two lifts at 114kg and 119kg. She did not complete her final attempt at 123kg, landing seventh in the session.  

McMillian totaled at 219kg, winning fifth overall for the 69+kg class, just 1kg behind third and fourth place.  

Team USA is heading home with eight medals from Penang. The women's team won fourth overall and the men's team placed sixth.
