USA Weightlifting is disappointed that the USOC made the decision to close our OTC resident program in Colorado Springs. With that said, it brings new opportunities to widen support for our elite athlete and coach population. We are exploring all the options and welcome any feedback.

The USOC has not given a specific reason for discontinuing the program; however, it occurred in parallel to cuts made to other programs, such as USA Fencing, and is related to the USOC managing their costs and resource allocation.

USA Weightlifting will continue to support its elite athletes, as we recently displayed with our increased stipend commitment.
