Pyrros Dimas Joins USA Weightlifting

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- USA Weightlifting is delighted to confirm that Pyrros Dimas will be joining the organization as its Technical Director in mid-2017. Dimas will join a performance group including Associate Executive Director of Sport Lance Williams and Coaching Education Manager Tamas Feher. Dimas will be supported by the right American expertise to help him succeed in his new role and will be involved in our international strategy, youth development, performance strategy, talent identification, performance funding allocation and coaching education, and will also be supporting USA Weightlifting’s fundraising efforts. Dimas will also act in a special advisor role to the CEO & Board of Directors on international relations matters. 

 
Dimas, 44, is widely regarded as the greatest Weightlifting athlete of all-time winning Olympic Gold in 1992, 1996 and 2000 for the nation of Greece and a Bronze medal in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Dimas added 3 World Titles and a European Championship, setting 11 World Records along the way. 
 
More recently, Dimas has been a member of the Greek (Hellenic) Parliament, remains a current member of the IWF Executive Board and heavily involved at all levels with the Greek Weightlifting Federation acting in the role of Head Coach for Greek athletes at international competitions. 

Dimas has four children, two of whom are being educated here in the United States.
