As many of you know, USA Weightlifting has made great strides in recent years to provide increasing support to athletes, expand International competition opportunities and has grown exponentially in the area of coaching education.   Under the new leadership of Phil Andrews, CEO, a recent reorganization of the National Office staff to meet the challenges ahead has given me an opportunity to assess my past, present and future contributions to USAW.  With mixed emotions and the confidence that this is the right direction for me, I have decided to explore other opportunities as I move on to the next phase of my life.

Throughout my 19 years as an employee of USA Weightlifting, athlete programs have always been at the center of our mission.  My involvement with every aspect of these programs, from budgeting to administration, has consistently been meaningful and personally rewarding.  It has been my recent pleasure (and challenge!) to help facilitate both the Junior/17U and 15U Summer Camps, during which time I was blessed to meet many athletes, coaches and parents.  It has also been my honor to have made many friends in USAW and come to know, admire and respect many of the volunteers who have given selflessly for the pure love of the sport.  I can honestly say that I have never witnessed anything like the camaraderie I have seen in the sport of weightlifting.  Not coming from a sport background, I continually marvel at the dedication and determination of the athletes in this sport.  Having seen hundreds of athletes strive to improve, year after year, competition after competition, has truly been an inspiration to me.   If I might impart anything that I have learned in my personal and professional life to the young and not-so-young athletes of USAW, it would be to never give up on your dreams, don’t take anything for granted, and practice gratitude every day.

Many thanks to the fine people that have been a part of USA Weightlifting.  You have impacted my life tremendously, and for that I will be eternally grateful.
