Cummings, Rogers Join Eleiko as Ambassadors for a Stronger World

Chicago, IL – November 16, 2015:  Eleiko, the premier manufacturer of strength equipment, today announced CJ Cummings and Mattie Rogers have signed on as Eleiko Ambassadors for a Stronger World.

“We believe in supporting the champions of today and tomorrow,” said Eleiko Sport, Inc. President Rickard Blomberg.  “It is exciting to empower the next generation of lifters by giving them inspirational figures like CJ and Mattie to look up to.  We are thrilled to have CJ and Mattie to work with as we continue to grow the sport of weightlifting in the US; they are both strong role models and we are proud to have them as part of the team.”

CJ Cummings has recently been touted as America’s next great weightlifter after setting an unofficial youth world record and a US senior world record with a 175kg clean and jerk at 2015 USA Junior Nationals earlier this year at the age of 15.  Only a high-school sophomore, Cummings lives with his parents and trains at CrossFit Beaufort in Beaufort, South Carolina. Inspired by his sister, Cummings began weightlifting at 11 years old and has quickly risen through the competitive ranks to become recognized on the international stage. Cummings will lift next week at the IWF World Championships in Houston.

“I’m excited to be part of the Eleiko family.  This past August I set a US record while lifting on their equipment and also last year at 2014 National,” said CJ about his new role as Ambassador for a Stronger World.  “I love Eleiko bars and weights so it’s pretty cool to be part of the family!  I’m looking forward to working with Eleiko and hoping to set many more records on their equipment!”

Mattie Rogers has taken a different path to weightlifting: after 12 years of gymnastics and 4.5 years in competitive cheerleading, Rogers picked up a barbell and now at the age of 20 is known as the best American weightlifter in her weight class, as well as one of the top female weightlifters in the country.  Rogers was named to the USA Junior National Team, earned a gold medal and set a total of 8 junior and senior American records including a 102kg snatch and 226kg total at 2015 University Nationals, and earned a spot on Team USA for the IWF World Weightlifting Championships taking place in Houston November 20-28, 2015.

“Everyday I struggle to get better,” says Rogers from the gym in Altamonte Springs, Florida.  “But to know that the struggle is producing results, is making me better, makes it worthwhile.  To be recognized by a company like Eleiko and included as part of their team so early in my weightlifting career, that’s pretty amazing!”

Proudly made in Sweden by skilled craftsmen since 1957, Eleiko bars and strength equipment continue to be the leading products in the sports of weightlifting and powerlifting.  Eleiko products are delivered to over 160 countries and are used to equip the world’s largest events, including the 2015 Weightlifting World Championships in Houston and the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
