Grassroots Director – USA Weightlifting Board of Directors

September 9, 2013 - USA Weightlifting is pleased to welcome Jasha Faye of San Rafael, California, as the new Grassroots Director to the Board.  Having established himself as a National Level Weightlifting coach, Jasha's accomplished career as an athlete includes the following highlights:

  • 3x Junior World Team member ('91-'93)
  • 2x National Junior Champion
  • Competed at 1996 Olympic Trials @ +108kg
  • Resident Athlete, Colorado Springs 1992-1995
  • Collegiate Champion
  • American Champion
  • Former Junior American record holder 163kg snatch at +108kg
  • Trained under Steve Gough, Dragomir Ciorslan and Bob Morris.

Faye is heavily involved in CrossFit and enjoys traveling the world.

Of the votes received, Patty Maizels got 26% of the votes, Daniel Foerster took 30%, and Jasha Faye finished with 43% of the votes.

8/7/13 - The following USAW members will vie for the position of Grassroots Director in an upcoming election amongst qualified Grassroots members from eligible USAW Clubs.  The Date of Election will be August 30, 2013.   Click on each candidate below for their resume.  Ballots will be sent via email to eligible Grassroots voters, or you may click here for an email ballot: 

7/18/13 - USA Weightlifting is seeking nominations for qualified candidates to fill the open role of Grassroots Director on the USA Weightlifting Board of Directors. Nominations are being reopened due to lack of number of qualified candidates received. To be considered for Grassroots: (a) the candidate must be an officer of a current USAW club, (b) if the candidate is a coach, the candidate may not be higher than a Level II Coach and (c) the candidate must meet the other requirements for Director candidates as set forth in the USA Weightlifting Bylaws.
