2013 Junior Pan American Championships

Day 1 RESULTS

At the conclusion of the first day of competition at the Junior Pan American Championships, the results for the US team are as follows:

Darren Barnes – 105 kg Snatch, 135 kg C & J, and 240 kg Total, of which the snatch was a gold medal result. The C & J and Total were silver and gold results respectively, and  were both new Junior and Senior American records.

Darrel Barnes – 115 kg Snatch, 140 kg C & J, and 255 kg Total, all of which were bronze medal results.

Ellen Kercher – 68 kg Snatch, 81 kg C & J, and 149 kg Total, all of which were gold medal results. Kercher's Snatch and Total results were new Junior American records.

Kathleen Winters – 71 kg Snatch, 89 kg C & J, and 160 kg Total, which were silver, bronze, and bronze medal results respectively.

Ashley Koren – 71 kg Snatch, 93 kg C & J, and 164 Total, which were bronze, gold, and silver medal results respectively. Koren's C & J and Total results were Junior American records.

Day 2 RESULTS

Victoria Gillooly – 70 kg Snatch, 94 kg C & J, and 164 kg Total. Gillooly's  C & J and Total were bronze medal results.

Hailee Lollar –  73 kg Snatch, 88 kg C & J, and 161 kg Total. Lollar's snatch was a silver medal result, placing fifth overall.

Brett Silvers – 115 kg Snatch, 131 kg C & J, and 246 kg Total. Silvers placed 6th overall in the 69 kg body weight category.

Luis Verdiales  – 102 kg Snatch,  --- C & J, and ---. Verdiales did not post a Total, missing three attempts in the C & J at 135 kg.

Clemson Forte - 120 kg Snatch, 143 kg C & J, and 263 Total, all of which were personal records results in his first international competition. Forte placed 5th overall in the 77 kg body weight category.

                                                                      Day 3 RESULTS

At the conclusion of the third and final day of competition at the Junior Pan American Championships, the results for Team USA are as follows:

Jenny Arthur – 95 kg Snatch, 115 kg C & J, and 210 kg Total, all of which all were gold medal results.

Marissa Klingseis –  96 kg Snatch, 127 kg C & J, and 223 kg Total, all of which all were gold medal results.

Kyle Hannah – 132 kg Snatch, 163 kg C & J, and 295 kg Total, which were bronze, silver, and silver medal results respectively.

D' Angelo Osorio  – 155 kg Snatch,  --- C & J, and --- Total. Osorio's Snatch was a gold medal result. He did not post a total, missing three attempts in the C & J  at 180 kg.

Team USA entered competitors in 10 of the 15 body weight categories contested. 

Team USA won 24 medals in the competition, of the 42 medals available.

Overall, of the 14 US weightlifters entered in this competition, 11 were medal winners, of whom 5 were gold medal winners. 

Of the 5 Team USA gold medal winners, 4 earned 2013 Junior Pan American Championships titles – Darren Barnes, Ellen Kercher, Jenny Arthur, and Marissa Klingseis -  having earned gold medals in Total in their respective body weight categories. 

Team USA women won the Junior Pan American team title, with the men's team placing 5th.

Members of the 2013 Junior Pan American Championships Team are at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., for 19-day camp in preparation for the 2013 Junior Pan American Championships. The camp runs from July 11-29 prior to the July 30-Aug. 4 competition in Santiago, Chile.
