Ian Wilson and Kollin Cockrell lifted in the 105 kg B  session and Kendrick Farris lifted in the 94 kg A session today at the Universiade in Kazan, Russia.

Wilson opened with a successful 152 kg snatch, then made his second attempt with a personal record 158 kg, followed by a miss at 160 kg.

In the clean & jerk,Wilson made 188 kg on his first attempt, then made a personal record 197 kg on his second, but missed his third attempt at 200 kg.

Wilson totaled a personal record 355 kg  in a 4  for 6 performance on the day, placing eleventh overall in the 105 kg category.

Cockrell totaled 323 kg in a 4 for 6 performance, placing 16th overall in the  105 kg category, with snatches of 138 kg and 143 kg after an initial miss at 138 kg, and clean & jerk successes of 175 kg and 180 kg, followed by a third attempt miss at 186 kg.

Kendrick Farris lifted last for Team USA in the 94 kg A session.

Farris completed 6 of 6 lifts, making snatches of 154 kg, 158 kg, and a personal record 161 kg, followed by 197 kg, an American Record 205 kg , and second  American Record  211 kg in the clean & jerk.

At the conclusion of the 94 kg competition, Farris totaled 372 kg, shattering the 14 year old American Record set by Tom Gough at the World Championships in Athens Greece. Farris won the bronze medal in a lift for lift finish against Zaichicov of Kazakhstan and Stanulis of Luthuania. His 211 kg jerk resulted in a tie in total with the Lithuanian, and Farris winning on lighter body weight.

Team USA returns tonight to the USA.

Danny Schlag and Michael Nackoul lifted in the 85 kg B and A sessions today at the Universiade in Kazan, Russia.

Schlag completed three snatches at 127 kg, 130 kg, and 133kg. In the clean & jerk, Schlag made all three  attempts, at  160 kg, 164 kg  and 167 kg.

Schlag totaled 300 kg on the day, in a 6 for 6 performance, placing 12th overall in the 85 kg bodyweight category. 

Nackoul opened successfully in the snatch with a personal best 145 kg, then missed 149 on his second and third attempts.

In the clean & jerk, Nackoul made a personal best 185  kg on his first attempt, then missed190 kg on his second and third.

Nackoul totaled a personal best 331 kg in a 2 for 6 performance, placing 9th overall in the 85 kg category.

On the final day of lifting for Team USA tomorrow,  Ian Wilson and Kollin Cockrell compete in the  105 kg B session. Kendrick Farris competes in the 94 kg A session.

At the conclusion of the 69 kg A session, Sylvia Hoffman placed 17th, totaling 173 kg.

Next on the platform today for Team USA are Danny Schlag in the 85 kg B session and Michael Nackoul in the 85 kg  A session.

Erin Wallace competed in the 69 kg A session tonight at the Universiade in Kazan, Russia.

Wallace opened with an unsuccessful 92 kg snatch attempt, then missed her next two attempts with the same weight, thereby eliminating her from the competition.

Sylvia Hoffman competed today in the 69 kg category at the. Universiade in Kazan, Russia.

Hoffman opened with a successful 74 kg snatch, made 78 kg on her second attempt, then missed 80 kg on her third.

After missing 95 kg on her first and second attempts in the clean & jerk, Hoffman completed the lift on her third attempt.

Hoffman totaled 169 kg in 3 for 6 performance on the day. Her placement overall in the 69 kg category awaits the conclusion  of the 69 kg A session.

Erin Wallace lifts later this evening in the 69 kg A session.

Matthew Sisley and Michae Asbatel lifted today in the 77 B session at the Universiade in Kazan, Russia.

Sisely opened unsuccessfully with a 120 kg snatch due the press out, then missed this same weight on his second and third attempts. Due to the competition only awarding medals for total, per the IWF rules Sisley could not continue lifting in competition clean & jerk event.

Michael Asbate successfully completed   three snatches, making 115 kg, then personal records at 118 kg and 120 kg. He followed with successful clean & jerks at 138 kg and 142 kg on his first and second attempts, then missed 148 kg on his third.

Asbate totaled 262 kg on the day, in a 5 for 6 performance. His placement in the 77kg category overall awaits the conclusion of the 77 kg A session later today. 

Next  on the platform for Team USA are Sylvia Hoffman  in the 69 kg B session and Erin Wallace in the 69 kg A session this afternoon and early eveming.

Megan Kranz and Vanessa McCoy lifted today in the 63 kg B session at the Universiade in Kazan, Russia.

Kranz completed three successful snatches at 74 kg, 77 kg, and 80 kg, followed by three successful clean & jerk attempts at 93 kg, 95 kg, and 98 kg.

Kranz totaled 178 kg in a 6 for 6 performance on the day, finishing 14th overall on the 63 kg category at the conclusion of the A session.

Vanessa McCoy opened with a successful 80 kg snatch, made 83 kg on her second attempt, then missed her third with 86 kg. In the clean & jerk, McCoy opened successfully with 99 kg, missing her second attempt with 103 kg then making it on her third attempt.

McCoy totaled a personal record 186 kg in a 4 for 6 performance, finishing 11th overall at the conclusion of the 63 kg A session.

Next on the platform for Team USA tomorrow are Michael Asbate and Matthew Sisley in the 77 kg B session, Sylvia Hoffman  in the 69 kg B session and Erin Wallace in the 69 kg A session.

The 2013 Universiade weightlifting competition commenced today in Kazan, Russia. This multi sport event is the largest in the world this year,with more than 13,000 participants, including more than 250 weightlifters from 50 countries.. The performance level of Thea top competitors entered is World Championship/Olympic Games caliber.

First on the platform for Team USA was 48 kg Suzana Sanchez.

The silver medalist at the 2012 World University Championships opened with an unsuccessful snatch at  64 kg, made the personal record lift on her second attempt, then missed her third with 66 kg.

Sanchez did not complete a total, missing three attempts with  80 kg in the clean & jerk.

Next on the platform for Team USA are Megan Kranz and Vanessa McCoy in the 63 kg category B session on Tuesday.
