BEGINNING GOVERNANCE UNDER NEW BYLAWS
USA Weightlifting (USAW) has gone through its long process of governance reform and it is now time for the first Board of Directors to be elected under the new Bylaws. Pursuant to USAW Bylaw Section 6.6, it is time for the members to nominate their preferred Nominees. A copy of the current USAW Bylaws can be found under Resources/Bylaws.

The bylaws allow a member to only nominate candidates in their own membership category. A list of eligible candidates for the various categories can be accessed above. If you have any further questions on what membership category you fall into please call the national office at (719) 866-4508. You must be current with all membership dues before nominating a candidate or being nominated.
All nominations are due back to the USAW National Office by the close of business on Monday, January 5, 2009. Following the nomination period, the Nominating and Governance Committee ("NGC") will proceed with the interview and election process as described in Section 6.6 of the USAW Bylaws. ATHLETE DIRECTOR ELECTION
Pursuant to Section 6.6 of the Bylaws all Elite Athletes as defined by the United States Olympic Committee ("USOC") will receive a ballot to vote for one Athlete. These ballots will be sent out on January 20, 2009. All Athlete Director Election ballots must be returned to the USAW National Office by the close of business on Friday, February 6, 2009.
ANNOUNCEMENT OF USAW BOARD OF DIRECTOR ELECTION RESULTS
On Monday, February 16, 2009 the new board of Directors will be announced. This announcement will be made by e-mailing the Membership, posting on the website and a mailer sent out from the National Office.
