USA Weightlifting Member Benefits & Discounts for National Event Travel

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.–(Nov. 6) The best weightlifters in the United States will head to Dallas next year, as USA Weightlifting and the Dallas Sports Commission announced today that the 2015 USA Weightlifting National Championships will take place Aug. 13-16 at the Dallas Hilton Anatole.

The premier annual weightlifting event of the year in the United States, the USA Weightlifting National Championships will attract the top weightlifters in the country. Approximately 225 athletes and 150 coaches will participate in the event.

“2015 marks an exciting year for weightlifting in Texas; with the world championships coming to Houston it’s fitting that we take the premiere domestic weightlifting event of the year to the Lone Star State,” USA Weightlifting CEO Michael Massik said. “This event will be an important landmark for both our athletes and the organization as we celebrate our national champions and prepare for the world championships.”

The 2015 USA Weightlifting Nationals Championships will serve as the primary qualifier for the 2015 International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships that will take place in November in Houston. The worlds in Houston will serve as the Olympic qualification event for the 2016 Olympic Games, which will take place in August in Rio de Janeiro.

“We’re very excited to host the 2015 USA Weightlifting National Championships,” Dallas Sports Commission Executive Director Monica Paul said. “We look forward to bringing more U.S. national championship and Olympic-type events to Dallas.”

Through this event, USA Weightlifting will return to Dallas for the second time in three years, as the 2013 American Open took place in downtown Dallas.

Dallas is centrally located and has two major airports, DFW International Airport and Love Field, with more domestic nonstop flights than any other U.S. city. The DART light rail system is also the nation’s largest light rail system and operates trains from DFW Airport to downtown Dallas.

Spoon Barbell and the North Texas LWC will host the 2015 USA Weightlifting National Championships.  Hotel, event timing and ticket information will be announced at a later date.
