USA Weightlifting Community Development Training Site Application Information

Note: Designations are awarded at the sole discretion of USA Weightlifting and can be revoked at anytime. Failure to comply with USAW by-laws and code of conduct will result in automatic removal from the program. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee selection.

Training site regions

Region 1 - West - Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Montana, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado

Region 4 - Southeast - Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee 

Region 2 - Mid West - North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri

Region 3 - Southwest - Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma

Region 5 - Northeast - Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania

Terms

Training sites receive designation for one year from January 1st to December 31st

Existing training sites will still have to reapply for each designation term.

2019 Application Changes:

Clubs and/or Club Directors with a previous ethics, doping or safe sport violation are prohibited from application

Minimum Criteria for application

  • National level coach or higher/ Or will fulfill national level requirement in year of designation 
  • Club activity with USAW as a coach, referee, and/or volunteer
  • USAW Club in good standing with the NGB
  • Must adhere to USAW code of conduct throughout designation
  • Minimum of 2 community outreach programs*

*Community outreach is defined as a program that introduces the sport of weightlifting to participants that have not been exposed to the sport previously. USA Weightlifting sponsored programs will not count towards your program count. 

Club Benefits

  • Official USAW Designation as a “USAW Athlete Development Training Facility”
  • Social Media and Website recognition
  • Club banner with USAW designation
  • Permission to promote club as an official training site of USAW

Items to be considered:

  • Location
  • Facility size
  • Quality/Amount of equipment
  • Club history (i.e. involvement with USAW, volunteerism, etc.)
  • Community development programs and outreach
  • Club participation in USAW sanctioned events i.e. try weightlifting day, online challenges, etc.

Club directors will be contacted via email from USA Weightlifting in October for application requests.
