As part of our commitment to safeguard athletes, USA-WSWS has approved an updated Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) applicable to all members and LOCs.

U.S. Representative Introduces Resolution Honoring Water Skiing's Centennial

U.S. Representative Angie Craig (Minn.) has introduced a bicameral resolution to honor the 100th anniversary of water skiing, which was invented on Minnesota’s Lake Pepin on July 2, 1922. The resolution, which was also introduced in the Senate by Senator Amy Klobuchar, encourages the United States Postal Service to design, print and distribute a new stamp honoring the upcoming anniversary – as well as Lake City’s contribution to water sports.

Ragin’ Cajuns Win Syndicate Waterskis 42nd Collegiate Nationals

The University of Louisiana-Lafayette water ski team won the Division 1 national title at the Syndicate Waterskis 42nd Collegiate Water Ski National Championships, Oct. 21-23, at Tri-Lakes in Zachary, La. The Ragin’ Cajuns tallied 12,930 points in winning their second consecutive and eighth overall national title since the inception of the event in 1979. The University of Alabama finished second with 12,395 points. Florida Southern College, which tallied 10,415 points, placed third. The University of Louisiana-Monroe finished fourth with 10,205 points and Rollins College was fifth with 10,010 points.

Year-Long Celebration Planned For Water Skiing's Centennial

The year 2022 commemorates the 100th anniversary for the sport of water skiing. To celebrate, USA Water Ski & Wake Sports has created a 100th anniversary logo and plans to promote the centennial through a year-long celebration via local, national and world events in 2022.

2021 Virtual Challenge, Presented by Indmar & Connelly

With summer in full swing and everyone back on the water, the USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Virtual Challenge, presented by Indmar Marine Engines and Connelly Skis, has returned. The challenge begins on Aug. 18 and closes on Sept. 30.

U.S. U17 And U21 Water Ski Teams Announced

USA Water Ski & Wake Sports is pleased to announce the selection of the 2020 U.S. U17 Water Ski Team and 2021 U.S. U21 Water Ski Team. The six-member teams, selected by the American Water Ski Association’s International Activities Committee, will compete in the 18th IWWF U17 Water Ski World Championships and 10th IWWF U21 Water Ski World Championships, respectively, Aug. 22-29, at the Pickos Water Ski School in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.

At USA Water Ski & Wake Sports, we continue to focus on programs to keep our athletes safe. As a part of our continued commitment to safeguarding our athletes, USA Water Ski & Wake Sports has enacted enhancements to our Safe Sport policy and education requirements. These policies, referred to as the Minor Athlete Abuse Protection Policies and Guidelines (MAAPP), are developed from baseline policies created by the U.S. Center for SafeSport (the “Center”).

Midwest Region Wins 39th Collegiate All Stars

The National Collegiate Water Ski Association’s Midwest Region won the coveted team title at the 39th Collegiate All-Stars Water Ski Championships, May 15-16, at Laku Landing in Windsor, Colo. The two-day event included the top-10 men and top-10 women from each of the NCWSA's four regions vying for the regional team title and individual titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall.
