Interview: World-Record Holder Erika Lang

U.S. water ski athlete Erika Lang capped off her 2019 season by setting a new women’s world tricks record of 11,260 points, becoming the first woman to eclipse the 11,000-point mark in tricks. Lang, 24, of Gilbert, Ariz., kicked off her 2020 season by winning women’s tricks at the 60th Nautique Moomba Masters in March in Melbourne, Australia. She recently took some to reflect on her recent accomplishments in an interview with The Water Skier magazine.

Towboat Draw Announced For 78th GOODE Nationals

The Towboat Draw for the 78th GOODE Water Ski National Championships is now available to view and download. The Nationals will be held Aug. 4-8 at Tri-Lakes in Zachary, La. Towboat manufacturers Malibu, MasterCraft and Nautique will pull the Nationals.

Eight Athletes Win Titles At 20th Junior U.S. Open

Eight water ski athletes won titles in respective events at the 20th Junior U.S. Open Water Ski Championships, June 20-21, at Mystic Lakes in Maize, Kan. The two-round, world-record capability event featured junior men and junior women (ages 17 to 21) and boys and girls divisions (ages 16 and under). Some of the world's top junior water ski athletes competed for titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall.

GrassRoots Tournaments: Free To Host...Free To Attend

Hosting an AWSA grassroots event in 2020? AWSA will fund it. That’s right. We need to get more people on the water and with less tournaments this year, Wednesday night ski leagues and ski for funs are a great opportunity to get on the water and get more people without access to lakes on the water.

Tri-Lakes To Host 2020 GOODE Nationals

The American Water Ski Association’s board of directors today announced that Tri-Lakes in Zachary, La., will host the 78th GOODE Water Ski National Championships. The world’s largest three-event water ski tournament will be held Aug. 5-9. Tri-Lakes and Bennett’s Water Ski & Wakeboard School previously hosted the Nationals in 1984 and 1989. It most recently played host to the Collegiate Water Ski National Championships in 2017.

Return To Play Guidelines Announced

As our communities begin to re-open and get back to some sense of normalcy, USA Water Ski & Wake Sports has been working diligently with the USOPC and our sport discipline organizations to create “return to play” guidelines for our sport. First and foremost, the health and safety of our members is our top priority. These return to play guidelines are meant to provide athletes, coaches and event organizers with best practices and recommendations regarding return to safe water ski activity.
