IWWF Announces Changes To Cable Wakeboard Age Divisions

Sept. 29, 2020, 4:26 p.m. (ET)

The International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation’s Cable Wakeboard Council would like to announce the following changes to the Age Categories beginning Jan. 1,2021. U19 Juniors – will become U18 Juniors; U15 Boys/Girls – will become U14 Boys/Girls. After many discussions regarding the age categories across the disciplines, the council conducted a medical report on the differences in physical ability within the age categories, the findings showed what the council already suspected, in that the age differential from the start of the category to the end of the category was too great and gave the older competitors an advantage.

The IWWF also is consolidating the age categories across disciplines, and this will align cable wakeboard and the wakeboard discipline junior categories.

The IWWF has also been asked to participate in a number of IOC projects that require slightly different age categories within the Junior sector.

The council has decided that introducing the new Age categories for 2021 makes sense for the riders due to the lack of international events run in 2020 due to the COVID-19pPandemic.
If anyone has any questions regarding this change, please direct to the Cable Wakeboard Council at: office@cablewakeboard.net or to suzi@cablewakeboard.net.
