Greg Walker

Greg Walker has served as the head coach for the U.S. Men’s Sitting National Team since 2016. He’s led the squad during several big tournaments, including the 2016 Paralympic Games and 2018 World Championships.

In his time at the helm, Walker coached the team to several strong results. In 2017, the squad took silver at the Parapan American Championships, and they finished in eighth place at the 2018 Worlds, the U.S.’ highest-ever finish in the event.

Walker had previous experience with the U.S. Men’s Sitting team. In 2013, he coached the team at an exhibition in Montreal, Canada, and he served as assistant coach at the 2014 ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championship and the 2015 Parapan American Games. He helped lead the Americans to a silver medal in that event, qualifying the team for the 2016 Paralympics.

In addition to his time with USA Volleyball, Walker also coaches collegiately. In July 2018, he joined the University of Southern California as a men’s volleyball assistant coach, taking the Trojans to the MPSF championship match and the NCAA Tournament during his first season. Previously, he served as the head coach at Sacred Heart for three seasons. In 2017, he led the Pioneers to 15 wins, third-most in school history, and the squad’s first conference tournament berth since 2010. He earned EIVA Coach of the Year honors that season.

Walker has also held coaching positions with the Sacred Heart women’s team, Alderson Broaddus University’s men’s team, Mississippi State’s women’s team, and Pfeiffer University’s men’s and women’s teams. 

Walker, who holds USA Volleyball Coaching Accreditation Program (CAP) Level III status, attended The Pennsylvania State University where he majored in kinesiology and earned a Bachelor’s of sport science in sport coaching from the United States Sports Academy.

Assistant Coach Joe Skinner

Joe Skinner

Joe Skinner has served as the assistant coach for the U.S. Men’s Sitting National Team since 2016.While head coach Greg Walker completes his duties at the University of Southern California during the spring, Skinner is responsible for the daily training of the U.S. Sitting program’s resident athletes and oversees training of non-resident athletes.

He’s helped coach the squad during several big tournaments during that time, including the 2016 Paralympic Games and 2018 World Championships. The team finished eighth at Worlds – the U.S.’ highest-ever finish in the competition – and claimed silver at the 2017 Parapan American Championships.

Skinner started with the U.S. Men’s Sitting Team in 2014, holding the dual roles of technical coordinator and assistant coach. His responsibilities include live video editing, maintaining statistics from each match and creating scouts of upcoming opponents.

In addition to his international experience, Skinner also has coached collegiate volleyball. He served as assistant women’s volleyball head coach at Fresno State during the 2014 and 2015 seasons after spending seven years with the University of Oregon’s squad in various roles.
