U.S. Men Beat China at University Games

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 10, 2015) – The U.S. men’s team competing at the World University Games in Gwangju, Korea, defeated China, 23-25, 25-15, 28-26, 26-24 on Friday.

In its final match of the tournament on Saturday, the U.S. (3-2) will play a rematch with Australia (1-4) to determine which team finishes 17th in the 20-team tournament.

The U.S. team proved to have the advantage at the net on Friday, as it led in kills (56-39) and blocks (11-6). China led in aces (8-5). China also scored on 37 U.S. errors while committing 30.

Greg Petty led all scorers with 27 points on a match-high 24 kills, one block and two aces. Kyle Russell added 25 points on 21 kills, three blocks and one ace. Cody Kessel chipped in six points on five kills and one block.
