COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 29, 2015) – This is conference championship weekend for NCAA men’s Division I-II volleyball teams, which will determine three of the six teams that advance to the NCAA DI-II Men’s Championship on May 5-9 in Palo Alto, Calif.
Pfeiffer University (Charlotte, N.C.) secured the Conference Carolinas berth to the tournament by defeating last year’s Conference Carolinas champion, Erskine, 3-0 on April 22.
Lewis (Romeoville, Ill.) has already qualified for the MIVA championship match with a victory over Lindenwood (St. Charles, Mo.), 25-22, 25-14, 25-18 on April 28. On May 1, Lewis will play the winner of the April 29 match between Loyola (Chicago) and Ohio State (Columbus) for the MIVA championship at 7 p.m. ET at Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville.
In the EIVA tournament, Harvard (Cambridge, Mass.) will play George Mason (Fairfax, Va.) at 5 p.m. ET in University Park, Pa., in the first semifinal match on April 29. Host Penn State will play Princeton (Princeton, N.J.) in the second semifinal. The final will be played May 1 at 7 p.m. ET at Penn State.
Finally, the MPSF semifinal and final matches will be played April 30 and May 1 at UC Irvine. On April 30, Hawaii (Honolulu) will play Pepperdine (Malibu, Calif.) at 5 p.m. PT while host Irvine faces Southern California (Los Angeles) at 7 p.m. The winners will play in the final at 7 p.m. PT on May 1.
The winners of each of the conference tournaments advance to the NCAA National Championship along with two at-large selections.
The National Championship tournament will begin May 5 at Maples Pavilion on the campus of Stanford with the two quarterfinal matches at 6 and 8 p.m. PT. The semifinals will be played on May 7 at 6 and 8 p.m. and the final will be May 9 at 6:30 p.m.
