COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Nov. 14, 2018) – Athletes from the U.S. Men’s Sitting Team are playing exhibition matches in San Jose, Costa Rica this weekend.

The matches, which will be played against Costa Rica’s men’s sitting team, will give U.S. players who don’t play as much an opportunity to compete.

“We’ve had a lot of competitions this year, but not everyone has seen the court a lot,” said Assistant Coach Joe Skinner who will lead the group. “We want to make sure our athletes get touches and continue to get better.”

Among those making the trip is Ben Aman, who was severely injured in a motorcycle accident shortly after competing in the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

The U.S. Men’s Sitting Team finished eighth at July’s World Championship, its best finish ever. Skinner said the result has buoyed the team’s morale.

“It was a positive step to move forward,” Skinner said. “Our training camps since then have been focused and positive.”
